Your growth opportunity
The Client Manager/Power Engineer is responsible to provide business development and client management both directly and indirectly in support of the power group and in line with company initiatives and strategies. Position will be responsible to help expand and grow the Power group and also serve as an Engineer or Project Manager on Transmission or Distribution related power and infrastructure projects. Identify and lead the pursuit of Power Transmission and Distribution Line Engineering business development opportunities for the company in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner. This includes developing new client relationships, overseeing project capture plans, management of the proposal process, assisting in proposal development, and occasionally managing the delivery of related Power projects.

  • Identify, initiate, and nurture new business opportunities by pursing qualified sales leads that generate new contracts and power related projects which generate new revenue streams and align with KLJ’s business line objectives.
  • Work closely with business leaders to coordinate sales efforts and cross-sell services.
  • Maintain accurate client and sales lead data in the company’s CRM system.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, prioritize, and monitor client relations as it relates to business development.
  • Monitor market trends and identify potential opportunities for company growth.
  • Leads efforts in developing project scope, schedule, and fee during proposal preparation phase.
  • Leads and/or participates in proposal interviews and scope/fee negotiations to the extent required.
  • Sets baselines for project scope, determines work procedures/sequences and refines schedules, budgets, risk assessments, staffing, vendor lists and progress billing points.
  • Works with Operations Managers to identify qualified staff, form project teams, and assign responsibilities.
  • As appropriate, manages the delivery of projects primarily involving Power Transmission or Distribution Lines, including activities related to project scope, schedule, cost/budget, quality, communications, resources, procurement, and risk elements to optimize exceptional customer experience, quality, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Meets with customer’s management team and stakeholders as necessary during the term of a project to resolve issues and obtain approvals.
  • Leads the project delivery team to ensure proper delivery of services, work product quality, project communications, customer satisfaction, and profitable execution of the project.
  • Conforms with KLJ project delivery, safety standards, and driving the KLJ vision and brand.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

What do I need?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or closely related discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant post education experience in an engineering-related environment.
  • Proficient with developing and sustaining strong professional relationships over an extended period of time by delivering value to clients, actively listening, and following through on commitments.
  • Advanced ability to articulate company’s services in a manner that connects with clients and provides value to them.
  • Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients, regulators, project managers, and employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Works independently to provide guidance and leadership to mid-and senior-level teams and project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline specific and project management software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Experience with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity.
  • Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
  • Must have significant experience related to leading and performing the Design of Overhead Related Infrastructure Projects (Transmission and/or Distribution Facilities)
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Electrical Circuits, Fusing Coordination, and Load Flow is a plus
  • Demonstrated competency with markets, clients and projects of specific service offering
  • Travel will be required, schedule depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferences:

  • Project Management experience
  • Certifications in identified specialization
  • Prior Engineering Consultant experience
  • Successful experience and track record of developing and selling professional services preferred.
